Introduction

Here at Live Tourney, we are constantly updating the below list of game types. As mentioned in the event creation section of the knowledge base, you can choose from a list of game type options based on players per team and format.

Below represents the list of available game types, descriptions, team size allotment per game type, and format compatibility.

Single Round Event Formats

Alternate Shot

Players on a team take turns hitting the same ball, and the team's score is the total strokes taken
Best Ball

Teams of two or more players compete, and only the best score or scores on each hole are used to determine the team's score.
Chapman
2 Player
Team game where both players tee off, switch balls for their second shots, then elect a best ball and proceed to play alternate shots until the hole is complete.
Custom Balls per Hole
Stroke Play or Stableford
Chose a custom amount of balls taken per hole.
Poison
3 Player 4 Player 5 Player
Alternating team game where one player plays their own ball while the others play a scramble.
Quota
1 Player
Players are awarded points for each hole based on their performance relative to a pre-set, handicap determined "quota" number. The goal is to earn enough points to beat the pre-set quota.
Scramble
2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 Player
Teams of players each hit a tee shot, then the team selects the best shot from where to all hit their subsequent shot. Team results are calculated by a single, stroke play score.
Shamble

Teams select the best drive among them after teeing off, then all four play their own golf balls from that position into the hole.
Stableford

Players or teams are awarded points based on the number of strokes taken at each hole in relation to par.
Stroke Play

A team or player score determined by the total number of gross and/or net strokes taken over one or more rounds
Take It
1, 2, or 3 player events
This option will ask the player hole by hole if they want to take that score before moving on to the next hole. Only scores that are taken will count for the event.
Tilt
1 Player
A stableford game type where net birdies put a multiplier on your next hole points.
Tombstone
1 Player
A stroke play format where each player begins with a set number of strokes based on their handicap. The objective is to complete as many holes as possible before running out of strokes.
9-9
2 Player
Play different front and back 9 formats within the same round.
6-6-6
2 or 4 Player
Play different formats from holes 1-6, 7-12, and 13-18 within the same round
3s 4s 5s
2 Player
Par 3s both scores count, par 4s are best ball, par 5s are scramble

Game Type Limitations

While all of our game types are compatible with single round events, some may not be accessible when using other formats such as multi-round events.
