Creating a Ryder Cup event in Live Tourney allows you to organize and manage a golf tournament with the same spirit as the prestigious Ryder Cup competition. Live Tourney simplifies the process of setting up and tracking the Ryder Cup-style event, enabling you to create an engaging and competitive golf experience. In this article, we'll guide you through the steps of creating a Ryder Cup event using Live Tourney's intuitive interface.

Access the Ryder Cup set up

To begin, log in to your Live Tourney account and navigate to the dashboard. In the dashboard menu, click on "Ryder Cup" to access the Ryder Cup event creation page.

Step 1: Event Information

In the first step of event creation, you will provide essential event information. Fill out the required fields, including:

  • Event Name: Enter a descriptive name for your Ryder Cup event.
  • Date: Select the starting date of the tournament.
  • Green Team Name: Specify the name for one of the teams participating in the Ryder Cup.
  • Gold Team Name: Specify the name for the other team participating in the Ryder Cup.

Step 2: Set Teams and Add Players

In the second step, you'll set up the teams and add players to each team. Click on "Add Players" and choose one of the four methods to add players: from your roster, by GHIN number, manually with name and handicap, or via a spreadsheet. Once the players are added, you can assign them to the respective teams by checking the checkbox next to their name in the team columns.

Step 3: Create Each Round

The final step is creating each round of the Ryder Cup event. This step follows a similar process to creating a single round event. There are two steps involved:

a) Adding Round Information: For each round, provide the necessary details such as event name, date, course, 9 or 18 holes, players per team, game format, handicap allowances, and max course handicaps.

b) Setting Up Matches: After entering the round information, you'll set up the matches for that specific round. Choose between a shotgun start or tee time event. If it's a tee time event, set the pairing intervals. Click on "Add Match" and select the players you want to compete against each other in the match.

Confirm and Create Event

Once you've completed the event setup steps, review the details and ensure everything is accurate. If everything looks good, click "Confirm" to create the Ryder Cup event. You'll now see the event in your dashboard, and by clicking on its name, you'll be taken to the live scoring leaderboard.
